Dear Artist:
Lloyd Kiva New Gallery is pleased to invite you to submit examples of your portfolio of work for possible inclusion in a juried exhibit “African/Native American Connection: Multiculturalism & Imagery”. This show will be exhibited in the Lloyd Kiva New Gallery of the IAIA Museum in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. “African/Native American Connection: Multiculturalism & Imagery” will run from September 7th, 2007 through October 14th, 2007. If interested please submit JPEGs (e-mail preferred) or a CD/DVD with dimensions and prices of your work no later than June 30th, 2007.
African American and Native American peoples have a rich history of cultural traditions and art forms. “African/Native American Connection: Multiculturalism & Imagery” sheds light on the history and the invention of multicultural artists of both African American and Native American ancestry. This exhibit will examine as well as celebrate the correlations linking these people and address the sometimes harsh realities of this multicultural identity. Through their work, this exhibit respectfully demands the attention of the Native American community to recognize the contributions of these artists who are a part of the Native American art movement.
This is a “For Sale” show. We will be taking works on consignment at a rate of 60/40 (60 percent of the retail price to the artist when a piece is sold). Retail pricing should be consistent with works offered elsewhere. All works will be insured while in our possession. Again we will be accepting all forms of media; however we must consider shipping costs when accepting pieces. Our shipping budget is very limited, large or heavy works will need to be considered carefully prior to acceptance. Press, advertising and shipping back on what has not sold will be provided by the Lloyd Kiva New Gallery.
We respectfully request, if your work is selected for exhibition, we receive the artwork no later than August 14th, 2007.
We are looking forward to your involvement in this exhibition showcasing the contemporary art of these distinguished peoples and celebrating African and Native American connection. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Bradley A. Pecore, Guest Curator
